Loudoun4All Statement- Virginia Republicans Exploit Loudoun Children in Renewed Anti-Trans Election-Year Crusade
Sterling, VA — June 6, 2025: Previously, Loudoun4All released a statement identifying a new far-right ploy to exploit students at LCPS. We have now compiled a new, detailed timeline of information that has been made available to the public to date. Looking at this timeline as a whole, it is apparent how the far-right, led by Attorney General Jason Miyares, other Republican officials and candidates, and the media are manufacturing outrage and weaponizing a student incident at a local high school. They are using the incident to attack LCPS and the school board, undermine Title IX protections, and target transgender students during an election year. This orchestrated effort follows a familiar pattern of misinformation, similar to the tactics deployed in 2021.
KEY PATTERNS TO NOTE:
MEDIA MANIPULATION BEGINS: WJLA initiates a narrative framing student “opinions” as under attack. A media-driven moral panic begins.
MISREPRESENTATION OF TITLE IX: LCPS outlines legal thresholds for investigations stating that beliefs alone do not qualify. Important: Title IX protects ALL students, including transgender students, from sex-based discrimination. In addition, the school board can not open Title IX investigations into students, nor do they perform investigations, or have a say in their outcome. The US Department of Education’s Title IX regulations require every school district to designate a Title IX Coordinator responsible for managing complaints, investigations, and compliance.
POLITICAL AMPLIFICATION: Cornerstone Chapel rallies its base; AG Miyares & WJLA amplify far-right talking points. Media fixates on anti-Policy 8040 speakers, ignoring broader community interests and concerns raised during public comment at the school board meeting.
NO EVIDENCE, NO CRIME: Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office confirms there was no evidence of a crime committed by the student who filmed. However, LCPS holds to its policies and suspends the student who made the recording, implementing their policy fairly.
SHAM INVESTIGATION TIMELINE: The Attorney General’s office sent one email to LCPS; then proceeded to release the investigation results less than two business days later. LCPS was not given a chance to provide evidence, and no findings were shared with the district. This was political theater.
ELECTION-YEAR EXPLOITATION: Miyares appears on WJLA and repeats inflammatory soundbites and dog whistles without presenting legal facts. Children are again used as scapegoats for political gain.
BOTTOM LINE: This isn’t about student safety, it’s about an attempt to seize political power at the expense of vulnerable kids. Once again, adults are targeting transgender children to rile up their base ahead of an election. Loudoun deserves better than another manufactured culture war.
